Conversion of Bloomfield Middle to Southfield Elementary School
Bloomfield Middle School is located in Macon, Georgia and included the complete renovation of 116,171 square feet ultimately converting the middle school into Southfield Elementary School for the Bibb County School District. This extensive renovation, by applying LEAN Construction Scheduling Techniques, was completed in just under 9 weeks allowing the school to open on time for the Fall 2015 semester.
As the General Contractor for Bloomfield Middle School we managed the renovation of the existing facility which included architectural, MEP systems and site upgrades. Renovations also included new restrooms, new flooring and painting throughout along with new cabinetry, plumbing fixtures and upgraded plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
The gymnasium was converted from a non-conditioned space to a conditioned space with the addition of 20 tons (Split Systems Heat Pumps and Fabric Duct). New HVAC duct was included in the pre-k/1st grade wing.
