Nola Brantley Memorial Library
Warner Robins, Georgia
The Nola Brantley Memorial Library is located on Watson Boulevard and is a landmark building for the city. This 19,000 square-foot building, with its traditional architecture, is an asset to the Houston County Library Board, and has served the residents of Houston County for generations. It is situated directly across from City Hall on site next to Macon State College that is beautifully landscaped with a campus feel.
International City Builders, Inc. was hired as the Construction Manager “At-Risk” to completely renovate and provide additional space to the facility, which brings the renovated facility to 25,516 square feet. We provided pre-construction services at the end of 2012 and began actual construction on the project in late February of 2013 and completed the project September of 2013, which was 1-1/2 months ahead of schedule.
At the exterior of the facility, the renovation included new storefront glass systems, brick veneer with cast stone and stucco accents. In addition, the site layout was configured to allow for better circulation for the patrons. The site changes included new sidewalks, parking lot revisions and landscaping. All of this site development took place next door to Macon State College without impeding the college’s day to day operations.
Stepping into the facility, you enter a beautiful colonnade that unifies the spaces and the functions of the building. All of the functional spaces in the library – reference and general collection stacks, reading areas, computer use furniture, children’s area, teen area, conference room and the history area are accessed from the newly located entrance and can be overseen from the main circulation desk. The interior spaces are updated to provide a classic “arts and crafts” style look and maximize costs efficiency.
